What is BISKit?

The original idea of BISKit is simple: provide a collection of inexpensive IoT devices, instructional material, and a collaboration environment to support both individual and collective learning and experimentation.

The Basic Internet of Things Starter Kit – or BISKit – is meant to help you become more familiar with the range of capabilities provided by inexpensive commercial technologies for sensing, computing, and automated reasoning. It is our hope that this project can serve you in providing a base upon which to meet uncertainty in a world built to limit your anonymity.

The core of the project is the kit. In addition to the kit itself, the BISKit Team is building a series of tutorials aimed at helping you not only learn about the basic functionalities of the components, but also apply them in practical ways. The BISKit team has also setup a collaboration environment to make it easy for you to ask questions, get hints, and interact with other Kit users. Finally, we’re planning an event where you can apply your creativity by solving a provided challenge through unique combinations of kit capabilities.
